Florida Luncheon 2014-

     The annual Class of '59 GRHS Alumni Florida luncheon was held at Bascom's Chop House in Clearwater, FL on Tuesday, February 25, 2014.

     Ginny James Memorial

At GRHS and in the Saddle River County Park, Ginny's husband, David, has done  beautiful and fitting memorials to Ginny. The pictures tell it all:

    In the Saddle River County Park (SRCP) , a  bench in Ginny's memory has been placed along a path  regularly walked by Ginny and David. The SRCP is accessed in Glen Rock from Prospect Street.

                         

                        

2012 Scholarship Awards

                    On June 6th at the GRHS Awards Assembly, Doug Anderson presented our two $2,000 scholarship awards. The awards where increased to honor Ginny James. Ginny's husband, David, was on stage for the presentations.

The first recipient was Kristen Spichiger who will be going to the Villanova School of Nursing in the fall. Both recipients are real self starters. At the GR Library, Kristen set up a "Reading Buddies" program to improve reading skills. The program paired  80 GRHS students with 45 elementary students. She was a lifeguard at the GR Pool and active on the GRHS Swim Team. She had a website for schedule lifeguarding for pool parties. Not to stop there, she established a  CPR/AED certification program at GRHS. In the past school year, it certified 45 students. AED stands for "automatic external defibrillator". She was a member of the National Honor Society. Maxwell Gross, the second recipient, started writing study guides for math and for many other courses, then put them up on a website for other students. Next, he set up a film production and editing group which filmed various events. Additionally, using an iPad app. he developed useful information for the varsity baseball team from a mountain of statistics. In all four years, he participated in the Relay for Life. He also worked in an program of exercises for special needs kids.  He was a member of the National Honor Society and will go to Boston College in the fall  majoring in Chemistry.

2011 Scholarship Winners

  The winners of the 2011 GRHS Class of '59 scholarships are Danielle Basirico and Kevin Mauro. They are both pictured with Ginny James our classmate and presenter of the two $1,500 scholarships.
